Our History
Drive Fore A Cure [DFC] raises money for life-saving cancer research and treatment. Founded in 1994, DFC began with a Kelly Family Golf Tournament. Soon, 144 committed golfers, volunteers, corporate sponsors and individual contributors were gathering each year on a beautiful fall day to support the Kelly Family after Bob’s challenging bout with lymphoma.
A mission and hope grew… to provide funding to help doctors, researchers and patients with the necessary resources to cure cancer. An endowment was created and the Kelly Family and DFC have been proud to support the Cancer Departments of Boston Hospitals.
In 2012 Dr. Roger Lange, a medical oncologist treating the Kelly family and many friends, died of Multiple Myeloma at the age of 68.
To honor Dr. Lange as an outstanding patient-centered clinician educator, the Kelly Family created the Lange Legacy Award in 2014. This award aspires to provide the funding and resources necessary to help doctors, researchers, and clinicians in their efforts to cure and treat cancers of all types.
